Pension Plan & Retirement FAQs

Group Retirement Annuity (GRA) is a defined contribution retirement plan administered by TIAA (the "pension plan"). The amount contributed by the RF and/or employee is determined by the Tier based on the employee’s hire date.

In addition to the contribution made by RFCUNY to the GRA plan, all employees may contribute to the RF’s Group Supplemental Retirement Annuity (GSRA) program, which allows employees to defer a percentage of their pre-tax income towards a retirement account administered by TIAA. GSRA deductions will commence after receipt of Salary Reduction Agreement forms. Contributions to a GSRA will not be made retroactively.

To enroll in the GSRA plan you must complete a Salary Reduction Agreement form and submit the form to your Campus Benefits Coordinator.

After a six-month waiting period from the date of retirement, a retired RFCUNY employee may return to work as Part Time B employee only.
