Sick Leave FAQs
Sick leave accrues based on hours entered and paid on the timesheet. All RFCUNY employees have a sick leave accrual rate of 0.078571 per hour. Sick leave is not earned on Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) hours (with the exception of the 56 hours mandated by law).
Sick leave accrual details can be accessed through the OneRF system under the Absence tab in the employee’s profile. There employees may track time used and view available balances.
Sick leave is a benefit available to employees while they are employed. After termination, there is no payout of sick leave accruals. Eligible employees may receive a retirement benefit based on the number of unused sick leave hours available at the time of retirement.
Employees may use up to 56 hours of their sick leave accruals in the calendar year for the care of a qualifying family member. Please refer to the Time Off and Leave Benefits policy for qualifying family members.
Sick leave may be accumulated up to 160 work days or 1120 hours.
