Update: Federal Government Reopens
On November 12, 2025, President Donald Trump signed Congress’s spending bill to fund the federal government, ending the federal government shutdown.
This action ended the nation’s longest federal government shutdown, funding most government agencies – including the National Science Foundation and the Department of Health and Human Services – through January 30, 2026. The bill also funded the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the legislative branch, and military construction through September 30, 2026.
RFCUNY will keep our dedicated guidance page updated should there be a lapse in funding in the future: https://www.rfcuny.org/rfwebsite/resources/federal-government-shutdown-guidance/.
