The Partial Federal Government Shutdown Has Ended

Published on: 02/04/2026

The partial shutdown of the U.S. federal government ended when President Donald Trump signed funding legislation on February 3, 2026. The Department of Homeland Security was funded through a limited continuing resolution that will expire on February 13, 2026. All other departments and agencies of the federal government are funded through September 30, 2026. The Research Foundation of the City University of New York will continue to monitor for any impact on the CUNY research community.

RFCUNY is prepared to help you manage the challenges and expected consequences of a potential federal government shutdown should there ever be a lapse in funding. We monitor the situation closely and issue detailed alerts and guidance on an as-needed basis.
