General Description

The Program Director is responsible for the effective and successful management of the overall program/center. The Program Director directs the project and ensures that activities are conducted in full compliance with the specifications of the City of New York Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and provides detailed guidance and leadership to the Medgar Evers College Cornerstone center staff. Program Director serves as the liaison between the Medgar Evers College School of Professional and Community Development (SPCD); DYCD; school-age participants and their parents and oversees the day-to-day supervision and operation of the program, located in New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) community centers.

Qualifications

The Program Director must have at least a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, and/or a minimum of five years experience working with children and experience working in a supervisory position. A master’s degree in education or related field is preferred and excellent interpersonal  and communication skills. SACC credentialing is required for this position. The Program Director must have excellent computer skills and have the ability to conduct workshops, to write curricula, and to schedule activities. Program Director must have the ability to accept guidance and supervision from command structure and must be able to work in the evenings and on Saturdays. The Program Director must also be knowledgeable of the Cornerstone community.

These functions include legal assessment and signing of agreements where RFCUNY is named as a fiscal agent; setting up award accounts; preparing sub-awards and assisting PIs in monitoring the work of the recipients of sub-awards; supporting project directors with hiring and managing research project and sponsored program staff; supporting the purchasing and paying for goods and services with grant and program funds; managing financial aspects of projects including accounts receivable, financial reporting, invoicing, budget monitoring, and cost compliance with uniform guidance; ensuring that sponsor financial requirements are met; monitoring compliance with applicable project and financial management rules and laws; supporting the management of independent and external audits and financial reviews; and providing data, information, management expertise, and other supports to CUNY’s research and sponsored programs.
