Job Description
General Description
Lehman College provides a college education to students, the majority of whom reside in the Bronx. In response to the impact that COVID has had on this population, the College is implementing a program (called the Step Up Program) for incoming first-year students that address their academic, social, and emotional needs.
This program is multidisciplinary in that it involves social and emotional support, enhanced academic support, additional advising resources, and faculty development focused on the needs of students whose school experiences were dramatically impacted by the pandemic.
The program builds on and expands the existing first-year programs at Lehman. Two social works will be part of the first-year team, focused on various initiatives, including working with students to obtain assistance with food and housing insecurity and related issues and meeting with groups of first-year students.
They will also work with faculty to develop their understanding of the needs of these students. Additionally, they will provide supervision to Lehman MSW students working with the students. As part of the first-year team, they will monitor the first-year experience and develop programs that promote student success.
