General Description

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable part-time biology instructor to join our dedicated STEP faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biology effective teaching skills and the ability to engage and inspire high school learners. The instructor will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging hands-on lessons assessing student progress and contributing to the overall success of our step program To ensure success as a STEM teacher, candidates should have a strong quantitative background, demonstrate empathy, and have good written and verbal communication skills. 

 

Other Duties

  • Plan and deliver comprehensive an engaging biolgy lessons tto high school students
  • Utilize a variety of intruction la strategies  and resources to accomodate diverse learning styles
  • Incorporate relevant real world applications and examples into instruction
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with program coordinators and administration
  • Be a team player 

Qualifications

A successful applicant must: 

  • Have earned bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline or have 2 years’ experience in education or tutoring fields 
  • Knowledge of the STEM disciplines 
  • Minimum one-year recent experience in specific course fieldwork 
  • Relevant knowledge of high school grade STEM coursework and fields
  • Success with and commitment to supporting an inclusive environment 
  • Demonstrated passion for and knowledge of biological sciences with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to high school students
  • Proven successful advisement and mentoring experience 
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine curriculum materials, assessments and instructional strategies 
  • Ability to cater to specific student needs and maintain diverse teaching and review models
