General Description
The CUNY Institute for Software Design and Development (CISDD) is a computer software research and development Center that aims at promoting economic development in New York City and encouraging the growth of the New York software industry. CISDD provides research opportunities and computational resources to CUNY students and faculties.
Other Duties
Essential functions:
- Build and maintain necessary Web-based platforms for a variety of projects.
- Develop and maintain software for projects.
- Communicate with end users.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Web-platform and languages (e.g., PHP, Python, Django, Flask)
- Experience with front-end technology (html, css and javascript)
- Knowledge of DBMS operations (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB)
- Experience with publication applications (Drupal)
- Knowledge of Linux
Education And Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or three years’ experience in related field
Big plus qualifications:
- Experience with Windows Server and Linux Server administration.
- Knowledge of file systems and file sharing.
- Experience with virtualization platforms (LXD, KVM, Docker).
- Ability to learn new software and systems
The successful candidate will be willing to learn quickly and will also be willing and able to work in multiple development environments and frameworks, as well as to learn in new environments.
Mainly work at Queens College, CUNY.

These functions include legal assessment and signing of agreements where RFCUNY is named as a fiscal agent; setting up award accounts; preparing sub-awards and assisting PIs in monitoring the work of the recipients of sub-awards; supporting project directors with hiring and managing research project and sponsored program staff; supporting the purchasing and paying for goods and services with grant and program funds; managing financial aspects of projects including accounts receivable, financial reporting, invoicing, budget monitoring, and cost compliance with uniform guidance; ensuring that sponsor financial requirements are met; monitoring compliance with applicable project and financial management rules and laws; supporting the management of independent and external audits and financial reviews; and providing data, information, management expertise, and other supports to CUNY’s research and sponsored programs.
