Organizational Description:

Founded in 2006, the mission of the CUNY Institute for Urban Systems Building Performance Lab is to advance high-performance building operations and practices in existing commercial and public buildings. We focus on improving efficiency and optimizing building operations through continuing education programs for facility managers, building operators, and energy professionals, internships for CUNY students, and building systems research and development.

Through funding from NYS Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), the CUNY Institute for Urban Systems - Building Performance Lab (CUNYBPL) will develop a statewide energy training program extending through 2027. This program focuses on energy-in-buildings and offers hands-on lab experience, comprehensive training in energy technology fundamentals, and pathways to multiple professional certifications. Targeting a diverse range of participants, including college students, veterans, and adults transitioning careers, the initiative places a strong emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion, aiming for at least 50% participation from disadvantaged communities. The collaboration seeks to foster an inclusive and diverse workforce equipped for the evolving challenges of the "energy transition."

General Description:

The Funding coordinator will play a pivotal role in facilitating the financial aspects of a new workforce development program at CUNY-BPL by assisting with subaward and student reimbursement processes and protocols.

Other Duties

Duties:

  • Collaborate with principal investigators and department heads to ensure compliance with funding agency regulations related to subawards and student reimbursements.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining standardized subaward agreements and student reimbursement processes.
  • Liaise with the Research Foundation of CUNY and other institutional stakeholders to align with best practices and requirements.
  • Monitor subaward activities; support reporting of funds use and any inconsistencies or issues.
  • Coordinate with the financial department to process subaward invoices and student reimbursements timely and accurately.
  • Conduct financial analyses and prepare monthly/quarterly reports related to subaward and student reimbursement financial activities.
  • Stay updated with changing regulations or policies from funding agencies, ensuring compliance at all levels.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Strong candidates will bring the following education, skills, and experience to this position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. (Master’s preferred)
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in grant accounting, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Previous experience working with the Research Foundation of CUNY is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of federal and non-federal grant regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
