General Description

The Liberty Partnerships Program delivers extra support to middle and high school stuents attending private and public schools in Queens to ensure their successful transition from high school to college. The program is hosted by the Queensborough Community College and funded by the New York State Education Department. It also serves students at its partner schools sites afterschool. 

Other Duties

  • The ideal candiate will teach Origami workshops to facilitate Literacy through the Arts (Math). Other workshops  to be delivered are Painting, Drawing, Sculpting and Paper Mache. The ideal candidate should be able to teach crafts workshops such as Jewelry Making, Quilting and other related crafts. 
  • The candidate must work in person at the Queensborough Community College Campus. Must keep their students engaged and monitor retention and participation. Must take attendance and submit it timely. Must keep their own personal attendance records. 
  • Must apply classroom management efficiently to have a cohesive group. 
  • Must attend orientation meetings as scheduled. 
  • Must submit a description of the workshops, the titles to be taught and a syllabus before the first day of classes. 
  • Must be able to prepare students for the presentation of their work at the end of the year gathering of the program. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Preferred. 
  • Must demonstrate to have at least 3 years recent experience working with middle and high school students attending NYC DoE and private schools teaching the above mentioned art workshops.
  • Must be committed to keeping consistency and progression with students from term to term. Saturdays 10-12 and 12:30 to 2:30 Summer's hours are during weekdays. 
  • Must be able to collaborate and team with other instructors to implement projects to teach using different learning pedagogies.
