General Description

We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Tech Instructors to join our program under the CUNY Department of Labor Strengthening Community Colleges grant. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and support to New Yorkers seeking to reskill or upskill into higher-paying jobs in various technical fields. This includes positions for the following roles: UX/UI Google Certificate Instructor, Google IT Certificate Instructor, Software Engineering Instructor, Data Analytics Google Certificate Instructor, and Amazon AWS Cloud Computing Instructor Teaching Assistant/Instructor. As instructors, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive and engaging courses to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their respective fields.

Responsibilities:

  1. Instructional Delivery: Facilitate both synchronous and asynchronous courses in your respective field, utilizing effective teaching methodologies and techniques to ensure student comprehension and engagement.
  2. Curriculum Development: Develop new or update existing curriculum to design and update course content, instructional materials, and assessments that align with industry standards and best practices as well as for credit for prior learning.
  3. Student Support: Provide guidance and support to students, offering feedback on assignments, projects, and exercises, and assisting them in overcoming challenges or obstacles.
  4. Online Technology Proficiency: Utilize online platforms and tools effectively to deliver remote instruction, engage with students, and facilitate collaborative learning experiences.
  5. Culturally Responsive Pedagogy: Apply culturally responsive teaching strategies to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that values diversity and addresses the needs of a diverse student population.
  6. Stay Updated: Keep abreast of the latest trends, advancements, and emerging practices in your respective field, incorporating relevant industry knowledge into the curriculum and instruction.
  7. Assess Student Progress: Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, projects, and other assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their growth and development.
  8. Technical Assistance: For the Amazon AWS Cloud Computing Instructor Teaching Assistant/Instructor role, assist the lead instructor in delivering courses, providing technical support, troubleshooting, and engaging students in practical exercises.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Field-specific Expertise: Strong knowledge and expertise in your respective field, including proficiency in relevant tools, technologies, and industry standards. Industry-related credentials and/or certifications are preferred.
  2. Teaching Experience: Prior experience as an instructor or facilitator, preferably in an educational or training setting, with a proven track record of delivering effective and engaging instruction.
  3. Online Teaching Skills: Proficiency in utilizing online platforms and technologies to deliver remote instruction and support student learning.
  4. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  5. Adaptability: Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse student needs and learning styles, employing various instructional strategies.
  6. Collaboration: Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, contribute to curriculum development, and share best practices.
  7. Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding and knowledge of culturally responsive pedagogy, with the ability to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
  8. Continuous Learning: Commitment to professional growth, staying updated with industry trends, new technologies, and pedagogical approaches.

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) was established as a not-for-profit educational corporation chartered by the State of New York in 1963.
