Job Description

General Description

The successful candidate will work with the members of the Public Health Informatics Computational and Operations Research (PHICOR) team to develop computational models and tools and approaches that will help a wide variety of decision makers to address questions regarding health and public health issues.

The ideal candidate will be creative, analytical, and eager to take on responsibilities and learn new skills. S/he will work in a fast-paced and agile organization with a team-oriented environment.

Other Duties

Primary Duties include working closely with the PHICOR team to:

  • Develop computational models (e.g. agent-based models, system dynamics models, discrete event simulation models etc.)
  • Program in various languages (e.g. Python)
  • Work with various decision makers

Qualifications

Requirements:

* Must be proficient in developing applications in Python

* Display a keen interest in programming / software development

* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels and with diverse personalities in a collaborative environment

 

Recommended Qualifications:

* Proficiency in C++ or JAVA is a big plus

* Parallel computing experience

* Cloud technical architecture experience

* A positive attitude towards change and ability to adapt

* Strong problem solving and analytical/reasoning skills

* Excellent written and oral communication skills

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

About the Research Foundation

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) was established as a not-for-profit educational corporation chartered by the State of New York in 1963.
