Motivational Interviewing Trainers

 

New York City College of Technology/City University of New York is seeking Motivational Interviewing trainers to support our Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) grant to provide Screening, Brief Intervention and Screening (SBIRT) training to our Health, Human Services and Nursing associate and baccalaureate degree students. 

 

Trainers will provide one to three hour introductory overviews and practice sessions to up to 250 students in approximately 30 training sessions during the month of March 2016.  Trainers will need to be available most days including Saturday.  We will be seeking at least two trainers to work in concert with each other. 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  1. Documented experience in providing Motivational Interviewing or working as a Motivational Interviewing clinician
  2. Documented recommendations from prior trainees
  3. Available to provide the trainings on most days beginning February 29, 2016 through the end of March, 2016.

 

Desired Qualifications

 

  1. A master’s degree in a health, social work or education
  2. Certification or membership in the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers
  3. Familiarity with SBIRT
  4. Familiarity with Substance Use Disorders

Other Duties

Three 4-6 hour workshops for health professionals in April - May.
