General Description

Our four-week summer program provides students ages [14 – 18] with a fun and enriching experience that blends creative expression with hands-on learning. The program emphasizes exploration, imagination, and confidence-building through the arts.

We are seeking a creative and dedicated Art Teacher to lead engaging, age-appropriate visual arts classes. The Art Teacher will develop and deliver lessons that encourage self-expression while introducing students to a variety of artistic media, techniques, and themes. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, organized, and passionate about nurturing students’ creativity in a supportive environment.

  • Plan and deliver daily visual arts lessons that may include drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and mixed media
  • Foster a welcoming classroom environment that supports creativity and individual expression
  • Incorporate basic art history, technique, and critique into lessons where appropriate
  • Support students of varying skill levels and adapt instruction to meet individual needs
  • Organize and present student work in a final showcase or art exhibition at the end of the program
  • Maintain an organized and safe classroom with proper use and cleanup of materials
  • Collaborate with fellow staff to align activities with overall program goals and events
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Prior experience teaching art to youth or teens, ideally in a school, camp, or community setting
  • Strong artistic skills across a range of media and techniques
  • Ability to plan engaging, structured, and age-appropriate lessons
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Creative, flexible, and student-centered approach to teaching
  • Bachelor’s degree in Art, Art Education, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with project-based learning or arts integration
  • Comfort working in interdisciplinary programs (e.g., with STEAM or performing arts components)
