About Us:
The Tech Talent Pipeline Residency Program (TTPR), an internship placement program for computer science students at Medgar Evers College, seeks an experienced technical instructor for a ten-week in-person data science coding bootcamp. The instructor must have Python and data science expertise and classroom experience. Experience in the tech industry is a strong plus. This role is ideal for individuals who possess a deep passion for teaching and a commitment to increasing diversity in the tech industry.

End: August 16, 2024
Responsibilities
The instructor’s primary responsibility will be teaching and mentoring students throughout their Data Science bootcamp. The bootcamp will largely be project based, with students completing online tutorials, and building individual and group projects in class.
- Design the curriculum and choose the resources and learning platform(s) to use. This will be done in collaboration with the TTPR’s tech advisor and the faculty advisor.
- Develop and deliver engaging lectures and presentations on data science topics such as data wrangling, exploratory data analysis, data visualizations, database queries, linear regression, and machine learning.
- Design and implement hands-on projects and assignments that allow students to apply data science concepts in practical settings.
- Provide guidance and support to students as they work on individual and group projects.
- Evaluate student performance using formal and informal assessments and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their skills.
The instructor will have the support of the TTPR’s tech advisor, faculty advisor, and five TA’s during the bootcamp.

Qualifications
- A degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field preferred.
- Strong background in data science, machine learning, and statistics.
- Expertise in Python data science and machine learning libraries, such as pandas, NumPy, matplotlib, seaborn, and scikit-learn.
- Experience with GitHub, SQL, and real-world data sets.
- Experience/familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Brightspace) and online learning environments (e.g., Zoom)
- Experience in a teaching or mentorship role, and a demonstrated ability for creating a welcoming and open learning environment.
- Familiarity with Generative AI tools is preferred but not required.
- Tech industry experience and experience recruiting for tech roles are a plus.
