General Description
The Workforce Development Department prepares New Yorkers to begin and advance their careers through a variety of certificate education and training programs. Based in LaGuardia Community College’s Division of Adult and Continuing Education, programs follow an industry-informed, career pathways approach and span sectors such as healthcare, technology, construction, media and communications, and more.
The Vital Brooklyn: Building for Efficiency and Sustainability Training (Vital Brooklyn: BEST) will prepare students to enter the construction field with an understanding of both construction safety and basic skills as well as sustainability principles and practices, especially as they relate to the built environment.
The OSHA 30 Instructor will provide the OSHA 30 course to students covering federal safety codes, policies, practices and procedures necessary to earn OSHA 30 certification utilizing lecture, role playing and other assorted learning tools, handouts, videos and web-based resources. The OSHA 30 instructor will also assess students’ knowledge of the course content and provide clarification, review and reinforcement of course content as needed.
Additionally, the OSHA 30 Instructor will process and prepare OSHA 30 cards for students who successfully complete the course and bring cards to the Workforce Development Program Assistant, and provide feedback to the CSSSTP’s program staff about students’ performance, attendance and classroom conduct.

Qualifications
Must be a certified OSHA 30 instructor with the ability and credentials to provide this training and certification. A minimum of 1-year of construction industry work experience, 1-year experience teaching adult learners, excellent communication skills and an Associate degree.

These functions include legal assessment and signing of agreements where RFCUNY is named as a fiscal agent; setting up award accounts; preparing sub-awards and assisting PIs in monitoring the work of the recipients of sub-awards; supporting project directors with hiring and managing research project and sponsored program staff; supporting the purchasing and paying for goods and services with grant and program funds; managing financial aspects of projects including accounts receivable, financial reporting, invoicing, budget monitoring, and cost compliance with uniform guidance; ensuring that sponsor financial requirements are met; monitoring compliance with applicable project and financial management rules and laws; supporting the management of independent and external audits and financial reviews; and providing data, information, management expertise, and other supports to CUNY’s research and sponsored programs.
