General Description
The Center for Cybercrime Studies leads, coordinates, catalyzes, and produces cutting-edge, multidisciplinary research on cybercrime and develops evidence-based solutions to counter cybercrime. The Center draws on cross-disciplinary expertise to: 1) conduct innovative and collaborative research on cybercrime; 2) inform policies and practices designed to investigate, respond to, mitigate, and prevent cybercrime; and 3) assist national and international public and private sectors in recognizing the changing cybercrime risk landscape, detecting cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and identifying the methods used by cybercriminals to adapt to and evade law enforcement and cybersecurity measures.
The Center is building a Cybercrime Investigations Laboratory and Research Facility (hereafter lab). A Senior Lab Technician will be hired to manage and assist the Director of the Center for Cybercrime Studies in this effort.
The Senior Lab Technician will:
- Install, configure, modify, troubleshoot, and update computer/network equipment, hardware, and software at the lab.
- Manage and coordinate day-to-day operations of the lab.
- Maintain the equipment, software, and other items in the lab.
- Manage and provide technical assistance for courses, trainings, and research conducted in the lab.
- Train and supervise research/lab assistants.
- Train and assist research faculty and research associates.
Other Duties
- Manage and coordinate lab use and use of associated devices.
- Document lab activities.
- Create biannual reports of lab activities.
- Assist with purchasing of equipment, software, supplies, and other lab items.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field of study.
- At least three years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in systems administration on a variety of OS platforms.
- Experience in enterprise networking and security processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lab and/or project management experience.
- Experience working with Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.
- Networking equipment (particularly Cisco and/or UniFi) installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Digital forensics knowledge and/or experience.
- Cybercrime investigation knowledge and/or experience.
