General Description

In the Research Foundation of the City University of New York (CUNY). The Data Scientist will: respond to complex research questions with large datasets by leveraging data engineering and coding skills, statistical analysis methods and a strong understanding of the criminal justice field; Collaborate with research staff to develop relevant data manipulation, data mining, data visualization and data analysis products using SQL, R, Python, Oracle, Redshift and Tableau; Partner with multiple city and state agencies to explore and document the structure and content of administrative data; Conduct quality assurance analysis, develop and implement methods for addressing data quality issues, including complex recoding and cleaning strategies; Develop and maintain data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) process among databases containing confidential data in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics or a closely related field.

 

Advanced knowledge of relational databases, data ETL and data-warehousing; Strong skills in statistical analysis on large scale datasets, data visualization, data product development and quantitative analysis techniques including clustering, regression, pattern recognition/or descriptive and inferential statistics. Proficient in relational databases and statistical programming languages such as SQL, R and related packages.

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) was established as a not-for-profit educational corporation chartered by the State of New York in 1963.
