General Description

The position is for a Geographic Information System (GIS) Research Assistant working primarily on dental health service accessibility in NYC. The GIS Research Assistant is expected to work with a faculty member in the Department of Geography and Environmental Science, Hunter College. Tasks will include spatial data analysis, spatial statistics, and manuscript writing. The job is paid hourly without benefits at $12-16 per hour, depending on qualifications. The assistant is expected to work 10-18 hours per week for about one month. There are no requirements for working location or mode.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in geography or related field with GIS experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GIS applications, specifically ArcGIS 10.x
  • Have considerable knowledge of geospatial concepts, principles, and methods.
  • Experience of spatial statistical software such as GeoDa, SPSS, or R
  • Knowledge of GIS applications as it relates to health and population data
  • Skills and knowledge of academic writing
