General Description

 Work with project staff in the promotion of the Responsibility to Protect norm.  Be able to coordinate with other civil society groups associated with the Global Centre for common goals/aims.  Be able to effectively transmit thoughts, details and ideas in Centre writings.  Understand the international complexities of the R2P norm in working with governments supportive of the work of the Centre project.  Understand the multilateral complexities of the R2P norm.

Other Duties

 Be able to write and edit in English on a high level.  Work with in a supportive manner with other staff in the promotion of the project in the preparation, implementation and execution of substnative meetings and events.  Able to communicate effectively with different government and non-governmt agencies and representative (diplomatic field, member state government representatives to the UN, UN and other multilateral organizations.

Qualifications

 Organized in work methods.  Can work on a high level of English.  Ability to edit quickly and substantively.  Ability to monitor/track the UN and internationa news media on global issues in assisting the project to issue periodic reviews to the global community on R2P issues.

 

Familiarity and ability to read and speak Arabic language a plus.

 

Familiarity with the non-governmental/civil society comunity through work experience.

 

Knowledge of the working of the UN and its family of specialized organizations as well as other multilateral organizations working on R2P.

 

Able to work long days at times for specific meetings and events organized by the Centre
