General Description

The Williams Immune Nanomedicine Lab of The City College of New York Department of Biomedical Engineering is hiring! ( https://williamslab.ccny.cuny.edu/ ) We are looking for up to 2 highly motivated and independent postdoctoral research fellows to study the role of pro-inflammatory cytokines in chronic disease models using fluorescent nanosensors coupled with traditional molecular biology techniques. We are seeking candidates for two positions: 1) Experience with single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT)-based optical sensor development; and 2) Experience with in vivo models of chronic inflammatory disease biology. Postdocs are expected to be experts in their field and will collaborate with researchers across basic and clinical science discplines. If you have specific experience in either position and strive to use nanotechnology to understand inflammation in chronic disease biology, please apply!

In addition to the General Duties, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Prepares papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals, patents, and presentation at conferences;

- Applies for or assists in applying for external research funding related to the research;

- Collaborates with internal and external academic colleagues, and participates in knowledge exchange activities to establish research links with industry;

The applicant should have:

- A PhD in experimental biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, or bionanotechnology for position (1), and in immunology, pharmacology, molecular or cellular biology for position (2), or related fields.

- Strong hands-on experience with in vivo models of disease, carbon nanotube sensor design/imaging, hydrogel-based biomaterials, molecular biology, immunology, or multiple of these competencies.

- Can demonstrate prior excellence in scientific communication through conference presentations and publication in quality peer-reviewed journals.
