Description:

The Upward Bound Program, college prep program at Borough of Manhattan Community College is seeking an afterschool English Workshop Leader to conduct virtual and face to face sessions with high school students.

Workshop Leader will provide instruction with Upward Bound participants in small groups using online platforms for virtual and face to face sessions, to improve participants writing and speech skills in English for NYS Regents, with a focus on critical thinking and current events.  In addition; encourage participants to write written reflections to be published.

 

 

 

 

 

Other Duties

 

Candidates must be highly motivated, patient, and energetic, excellent communications skills, organizational and networking skills. Experience working with high school youth.  

Workshop Leader will deliver academic instruction and ensure proper online room management while conducting workshops on NYS English Regents preparation, and or SAT/ACT preparation and study skills.

 

Qualifications

Candidates should have a BA, MA (preferably) with 2 years or equivalent experience teaching English, writing/ literacy skills and or SAT/ACT prep classes to first generation students with knowledge or familiarity of NYS Regents or experience.
