Part-Time Research Coordinator:
NYC Ghanaian Mental Health and Wellness Project
Project Description: This study seeks to understand the dynamic complexity underlying acculturative stress and mental well-being among Ghanaian immigrants living in New York City.
The project will consist of a) convening a community advisory board; b) conducting interviews/surveys with community members; c) conducting community listening sessions; and d) developing and implementing a pilot intervention.
For this project, we are seeking a Research Coordinator.
Primary Responsibilities:
Specific duties include, but not limited to:
- Manage meeting schedules including project team, advisory board and other meetings as needed.
- Recruit/follow up with project participants in person, via phone calls, social media, and over email
- Schedule and manage listening sessions, including space rental, food delivery, and coordination with vendors
- Order/distribute program materials and participant gift cards etc.
- Develop new program materials which may include recruitment flyers, social media posts, and radio/newspaper ads.
- Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions
- Perform data entry and data management
- Keep track of all project expenses and reconcile expense reports
- Maintain all expense documentation on CUNY Research Foundation website
- Support the preparation of IRB application(s)
- Administrative duties such as mailing, printing/copying, emailing, etc.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Graduate or undergraduate student pursuing a degree in public health, nutrition, or related fields.
- Articulate and tactful communication skills; readiness to meet and work directly with community members and research participants.
- Experience working in African immigrant communities is essential.
- Experience creating materials in Microsoft (E.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Drive (E.g., Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides), social media, Canva, or equivalent.
- Ability to follow research protocol, handle, and protect confidential and sensitive data with integrity
- Generally flexible hours, 20 hours per week.
- Must be able to work nights and/or weekends both remotely and in person as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of or familiarity with community-based participatory research methods (E.g., interviews, focus groups, town halls, and advisory boards.
- Experience supporting grants administration.
- Experience creating, infographics, and health education materials.
- Completion of CITI training courses in social and behavioral research with human subjects is required for all staff and volunteers involved in this project.
