General Description

Two research assistant positions are available in our laboratory to investigate how mitochondria regulate synaptic function and plasticity. 
The prospective collaborator will use live fluorescence microscopy (Airyscan), electrophysiology, and optogenetic tools to measure and modulate mitochondrial function during synaptic activation in drosophila. 
We welcome email applications from all qualified individuals holding a BSc or BA degrees in the Biological Sciences degree and with experience in drosophila/mitochondrial biology, as well as having the ability to work both independently and in collaboration. Other Duties

- training and supervising undergraduate students

- performing general fly lab husbandry

- helping in the maintenance of chemical inventory, instrumentation, and laboratories belonging to the group

- submit monthly reports, present work in group meetings

- complying with safe working conditions

Qualifications

- highly motivated individuals with a BA./ BSc.in Cell Biology/Physiology or related field.
- experience with drosophila physiology, live and confocal fluorescence microscopy, electrophysiology, mitochondrial signaling, and familiarity with metabolic measurements in intact cells and subcellular extracts are a plus.
