General Description
CUNY’s Office of Library Services (OLS) seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Project Archivist based at Baruch College.
The position is part of the Cultivating Archives and Institutional Memory Project, funded by the Mellon Foundation. This is a part-time position, working approximately 15 hours per week for a total of 354 hours (approximately 23 weeks).
The Project Archivist will work on-site at Baruch College and will report to the Head of Archives and Special Collections. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and interviews will take place before the position's closing date of July 25th.
The Project Archivist will assist campus archivists with archival operations, including:
- Processing: arranging, describing, and rehousing archival materials, publishing DACS-compliant finding aids using ArchivesSpace
- Digitization: scanning and cataloging collections for digital access, potentially to include our Yearbook collection
- Reference services: coordinating and supervising research appointments, pulling requests for researchers, and/or conducting research and making scans upon request to fulfill reference requests
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
- MLIS degree or currently enrolled student
- At least one year of previous hands-on experience working with archival collections (including part-time positions, internships, etc.)
- Familiarity with archival standards for preservation, arrangement, and description
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with metadata and archival description standards (DACS, EAD, and Dublin Core)
- Previous experience digitizing print collections
- Working knowledge of ArchivesSpace or similar collection management software tools
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- All work will be performed onsite at the Baruch College Library
While performing these duties, the employee may be required to:
- Use a computer and other office equipment
- Lift or move boxes up to 25 pounds
