When is RFCUNY’s 2027 Benefits Open Enrollment?
Open Enrollment runs from Monday, November 2, through Monday, November 23, 2026.
What is open enrollment?
Benefits Open Enrollment is the annual period when eligible employees can review, select, or make changes to their employee benefits for the upcoming plan year. During this time, employees can evaluate their current coverage, update benefit elections, and enroll in eligible plans.
For RFCUNY, Open Enrollment is also the time to enroll in benefits that require annual re-enrollment, including Healthcare, Dependent Care, Transit, and Parking Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), as well as the Health Insurance Waiver Credit.
Note: Some benefits automatically carry over to the next plan year if no changes are made, while others require employees to submit a new election during Open Enrollment.
What is new for 2027?
We are pleased to announce an enhancement to the Research Foundation of CUNY (RFCUNY) Cigna Dental PPO Plan. Effective January 1, 2027, dental implant coverage will be included in the RFCUNY dental plan. The plan will cover 60% of the cost of dental implants, up to a maximum of $5,000 annually. Cigna Dental PPO is included when you are enrolled in a RFCUNY medical plan - Cigna Open Access Plus, Cigna Point-of Service, or Cigna Open Access Plus In Network. Dental implant coverage is automatically included in your dental coverage and will not require special or separate enrollment. See Cigna Healthcare: What Are Dental Implants?
How do I enroll?
Log in to OneRF and access your Open Enrollment task using either of the following options:
-
From your Inbox: Select Change Benefits for Open Enrollment – Let’s Get Started
-
From the left-hand menu: Navigate to Personal > Benefits and Pay > Benefit Event: Open Enrollment
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to review and submit your benefit elections
Is Open Enrollment mandatory?
Open Enrollment is voluntary, but we encourage all employees to review their benefits and confirm their elections for 2027.
Your current elections for health insurance, pension and retirement plans, disability coverage, life insurance, and voluntary supplemental insurance plans through Aflac will carry over to 2027 if you do not make changes.
Important: Annual re-enrollment is required for the following benefits. If you are currently enrolled in any of these plans and you do not complete open enrollment, your enrollment will end 12/31/2026. Your FSA coverage has a grace period and will end 3/15/2027, if you do not re-enroll.
