Search for External Funding

A variety of resources for identifying funding for research, education, and training are available to CUNY faculty, researchers, postdoctoral fellows and staff. Investigators are encouraged to be familiarized with the electronic grant funding tools available to receive funding opportunity alerts and/or alerts related to changes in federal, state, and private foundation funding requirements.

Pivot-RP

Pivot-RP provides global and local connections that strengthen research by exploring new avenues for funding and collaboration.

GrantForward

GrantForward enables registered users to customize, and save and share searches and funding opportunities/alerts. Users may access information from anywhere when logged in to their accounts.

The uniqueness of the GrantForward and Pivot-RP databases includes:

  • Ability to identify and connect funding opportunities to researchers at one’s CUNY institution;
  • Access to the most comprehensive sources of funding opportunities globally;
  • Identify researcher expertise from within or outside CUNY;
  • Enhanced communication, monitoring, and tracking between individual faculty, teams, or researchers and the CUNY campus Grants Office;
  • Functionality to add internal deadlines to critical funding opportunities and send weekly updates on saved searches that a user organizes in their folder.
  • When registering as a user, the user’s email must be their affiliated institution email (cuny.edu or rfcuny.org). GrantForward and Pivot-RP will not allow a user to create an account without an affiliated institution email address.

Additional Databases

  • Grants.gov is a searchable database featuring grant opportunities sponsored by Federal agencies.
  • Philanthropy News Digest is a service of the Foundation Center, which offers private funding opportunities in many fields.
  • RePORTER is a National Institutes of Health Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tool (RePORTER) that provides access to reports, data, and analysis of NIH research activities including information on grants awarded, expenditures, and the results of NIH supported research.
