Q: What are the minimum system requirements needed to use the Grants Proposal System?
A: The Grants Proposal System is supported by the following are the configurations:

It is recommended that you install the latest service packs and patches for your Operating System
Browser
We recommend using Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher. For instructions on how to check what version of Internet Explorer you are using, click here. To get the latest version of Internet Explorer, click here.
Please ensure that your Browser has been set to accept cookies. For instructions on how to set your Browser to accept cookies click here.
Apple System Requirements
Operation System

Other Requirements
In order to view/print your application in a PDF format, please ensure that you have Adobe Reader (version 6 or later) installed on your computer. To get the latest version of Adobe Reader, click here.
Problems Viewing/Printing Documents
Q: I want to view a document that I have uploaded to my application/Profile, however, when I try to open it I get an error message indicating that my file cannot be found.
A: This may be because space allocated for your Temporary Internet Files is full. Delete the files in your Temporary Internet Folder and then try re-opening the document. For instruction on how to clear your Temporary Internet Files, click here.
Q: When I try to print out an application, parts of the application get "cut off"
A: If you are using Adobe 6 do the following before printing:
- Go to File
- Select Print
- In the Print dialog box locate the Page Handling section
- Under Page Scaling select Fit to Paper
Q: When I visit the PSC CUNY Home Page, I do not see the links for the Regular or Out of Cycle Applications
A: This may be cause because your computer is loading the Home Page from cache. Please clear your Temporary Internet Files and try again. For instructions on how to clear your Temporary Internet Files click here.
We would also recommend setting your Browser to always get the latest version of the page when you visit the site. For Instructions on how to do this, click here.
Log on Problems:
Q : I cannot log on to the system. I get an error message saying "Cannot log you in. Please try again."
A : This means that you have entered your User ID or password incorrectly. Try re-entering your User ID and password. Remember that passwords are case sensitive.
Q: I am using a MAC and I when I attempt to access certain sections of the application, I get a messaging indicating that http://www.rfcuny/ is a Secure Site. RCA-128.
A: This could mean that your Browser does not support 128 bit encryption. Please click here for more information on the recommended systems requirements for using the Grants Proposal System.
If you are using the recommended Browser, please make sure that it has been set to support 128-bit encryption.
Q: When I try and save information in my Profile or Application, I get a message telling me that the program is being updated by another user.
A: This sometimes happens when you have the Grants Proposal System open in two instances of your Browser. Please do the following:
- Close all Internet Browsers
- Re-open your Browser
- Log back on to the system and resuming working.
Please note that to avoid losing information, it is recommending that you always saving your work in frequent intervals.
Q : After I enter my User ID and password, I am directed to a blank screen.
A : If you are experiencing this problem, try doing the following:
- Ensure that you are using the recommended Browser and that your Browser has been set to accept cookies. Click here for more detail

Q: I am trying to attach a document to my Profile/Application, but I get an error message saying that the file I am trying to upload is not in an acceptable format.
A: Open your file and save it on your computer using a different file name. Now try attaching this new file to your Profile/Application.
If you continue to have a problem please send us your file along with you name, User ID, application number and application title and we will upload the file for you.
Please note that for security purposes we do not allow files with .exe or .com extensions to be uploaded into the system.

- The version of your Browser is displayed in the dialog box that appears.

- Click on the Internet Explorer menu on the extreme left hand side of your screen.
- Select About Internet Explorer to view the version of your Browser

- Click Delete Files
- Select Ok in the dialog box that opens
- Close your Browser
- Re-open your Browser
For Apple Users

- Open Internet Explorer
- Click on the Internet Explorer menu on the extreme left hand side of your screen.
- Select Preferences
- Click on Advanced
- In the Cache section, click on the Empty Now button.
- Click OK
- Close your Browser
- Re-open your Browser
For Netscape 7.2 or higher
- Open Netscape
- Click on the Netscape menu on the extreme left-hand side of the screen.
- From the Edit menu, select Preferences
- Click on Advanced
- Select Cache
- Click on the Clear Disk Cache and Clear Memory Cache buttons
- Click OK
- Close your Browser
- Re-open your Browser

- Click on Advanced
- In the Cache section, under Update Pages select the option Once Per Session
For Netscape 7.2 or higher
- Open Netscape
- Click on the Netscape menu on the extreme left hand side of your screen.
- Select Preferences
- Click on Advanced
- Select Cache
- Under Compare the Page in the Cache to the Page on the Network select the option When the Page is Out of Date
- Click OK
- Close your Browser
- Re-open your Browser
Enabling Cookies
For Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher (For Windows 2000)
- Open Internet Explorer
- From the Tools menu select Internet Options
- Select the Security tab
- Select the Custom Level tab
- Under Allow Cookies that are stored on your computer click Enable
- Under Allow per-session cookies (not stored) click Enable
- Select OK, Yes you want to save the settings
For Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher (For Windows XP)
- Open Internet Explorer
- From the Tools menu select Internet Options
- Select the Privacy tab
- Make sure that the level is set to Medium
For Apple Users
For Internet Explorer 5..2.2 or higher
- Click Edit
- Select Preferences
- Under the Receiving Files option, select Cookies
- Select Never Ask
- Click OK
For Netscape 7.2 or higher
- Open Netscape
- Click on the Netscape menu on the extreme left hand side of your screen.
- Select Preferences
- Select Privacy and Security and then Cookies
- Select Enable All Cookies
- Click OK
