General Description

Position Summary

Maintain our Linux cluster. This includes data management, backup and archiving research data, running MD and QM codes, writing custom data analysis scripts/codes for visualization of output data. Responsible for ordering necessary supplies. Maintains and operates laboratory equipment. Collects, verifies, records and compiles data; performs calculations and prepares graph and reports. Maintains records of lab procedures and results. Performs other related duties as assigned. Assists scientists, students, and other technicians in the performance of laboratory and investigative research procedures. Collaborates with lab members on different projects; contributes to the organization of the lab by providing support for various aspects of research.

Other Duties

This research laboratory is a computational chemistry lab that uses Molecular Dyanamics (MD), Quantum Mechanics (QM) and hydrid methods to study structure-property relationships in fluorescent materials and enzymes. All tasks related to supporting this kind of group should be expected.

Qualifications

Preferred Skills

The candidate is required to have a Master’s degree or PhD (preferred) in a computational science discipline. Experience with multiple platforms (i.e. Linux/UNIX and Windows), hardware and cluster maintenance techniques, software for scientific computing, data analysis and visualization. Must have an interest in computational research, programming, hardware and software maintenance.

 

Skill and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and diplomatically in a high-pressure environment. Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail. Programming experience with Fortran, C++, Python, Java, etc. Experience with High-performance computing expected.
