General Description

Queens College is seeking a part-time Assistant Athletics Trainer (with benefits). This position reports to the Director of Sports Medicine and is under the area of Student-Athlete Performance supervised by the Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Performance/Interim Senior Woman Administrator.

The successful candidate assists in the general healthcare (injury evaluations, referrals, rehabilitative treatments) of 275 intercollegiate student-athletes representing 19 NCAA Division II  varsity sports; provide necessary practice and game coverage for all intercollegiate teams (including travel, late nights, early mornings, weekends, holidays and during inclement weather); and assist with monitoring and maintenance of the athletic training room. This position is also required to work during summer months with summer camp staff.

Position may require attending conference and department meetings; as well as performing other duties assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.

Position includes health benefits and tuition reimbursement of up to $800 per calendar year.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree. BOC certification, New York State Licensure (prior to start of employment), current Professional Rescuer CPR/AED/First Aid certification, a valid driver’s license, working knowledge of and adherence to NCAA rules and regulations, ability to effectively communicate with and relate to student-athletes, coaches, athletic staff and capacity to use relevant computer software.

The individual must have the mobility to do the following activities: running, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Candidates must have the ability to lift and/or move heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis with or without assistance. Experience with female sports and female related issues are a plus.
