General Description

The incumbent works in a high tech innovation center designed to encourage growth in the NY software industry, and consults with users to determine computing needs and to identify fundamental issues in computing. The incumbent also works with other scientists to develop and improve the software systems that form the basis of the computing experience. The incumbent builds and maintains servers required for internal/external research projects and web-based platform for a variety of research projects. The incumbent designs experiments to test the operation of software systems and evaluates project plans and proposals to assess feasibility. The incumbent also acquires, configures and maintains development, test and production servers and works on research projects involving big data cleansing, learning algorithm, and visualization.

Qualifications

A master’s degree in Computer Science is required.  Knowledge of the following is also required: Big Data/Machine Learning techniques; Unified modeling language UML; web platform (Apache, Tomcat) and languages (Java, Python); DBMS (Oracle and MySQL); content management systems; Windows and Linux Servers administration; hardware and network monitoring.
