General Description
Working with cohorts of middle school students in the Bronx, researchers are seeking to determine the effectiveness of a countermarketing curriculum on sugary beverage consumption post-intervention. Countermarketing is communication designed to reduce consumption of unhealthy products by exposing the motives and denormalizing marketing activities by food companies.
This research assistant will work on the Bronx Health REACH Creating Healthy Schools & Communities Initiative under the supervisor of CUNY SPH professor Chris Palmedo.
Duties of the research assistant include the following:
- Assisting with the logistics of arranging 12 focus groups of students ages 13-18. This may include scheduling sessions, purchasing and supplying snacks for participants, distributing gift cards, and managing recording of focus groups
- Arranging for transcriptions to be made from focus group recordings
- Managing the qualitative analysis including coding trasnscipts
- Working with qualitative research software to analyze data
- Drafting reports and manuscripts
