General Description
- Engage youth in education-centered after school and summer youth programming.
- Assist in the coordination of recruitment, intake, testing, enrollment and orientation of eligible applicants across Workforce Education Center (WEC) programs.
- Assist the Summer Youth Employment (SYEP) Program Coordinator in the daily implementation of the program plan; with an emphasis on the delivery of direct services to participants
- Collaborate with project facilitators to ensure effective sequencing, planning & implementation of sponsor driven youth development curriculum.
- Assist with coordination, calendaring and weekly tracking of all student facing activities inclusive of career exploration workshops; workplace communication and soft skill development; job site interviews and site based training.
- Assist in the coordination and ongoing monitoring of program site visits; experiential learning activities and individual student participation, performance and retention outcomes.
- Support the Program Coordinator in the preparation of ongoing facilitator and participant evaluations; dissemination of participant feedback surveys as well as other related documents and correspondence.
- Create, prepare and disseminate various outreach and program materials
- Cultivate new partnerships and develop viable work site placements.
- Expand program knowledge and implementation of articulation pathways leading to sector based certification and mid-level post-secondary employment.
- Maintain daily student logs and participant records in accordance with sponsor guidelines; also in accordance with privacy of use laws governing the proper storage, retrieval, copying, dissemination and the discarding of individual participant information.
- Provide initial verification of student eligibility for program incentives in accordance with sponsor funding guidelines. Guidelines include completion of orientation; successful completion of 6 week summer work experience; final evaluation and 85% attendance.
- Attendance is verified through sign in at orientation , work hours on time sheets as confirmed by worksite supervisor and end of program reflection.
- Coordinates the necessary secondary verification and ACE authorization processes for Bursar disbursement of indivual participant incentives as follows:
- Submit for secondary verification, to the Division of Adult & Continuing Education (ACE) fiscal office, roster of eligible participants and corresponding records.
- Program Director follows up with Dean for programmatic authorization to schedule centralized distribution by College Bursar.
- Associate Dean/Designee for Financial, Programmatic and External Planning grants divisional authorization of incentive distribution
- Associate Dean/Designee for Financial, Programmatic and External Planning oversees the scheduling and tracking of distribution to program participants by College’s Bursar
- Support the Program Coordinator in the systematic review and assessment of program services and progress in meeting project deliverables.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by the SYEP Program Coordinator.
Other Duties
- Participate in school and community outreach to increase visibility in the community, as well as youth awareness and utilization of program services.
- Establish and maintain on-going communication with Program Coordinator to develop, implement, and evaluate effective youth centered programming.
- Provide a safe, engaging, responsive and aspirational environment for all participants.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or equivalent years of experience required.
- Two-three years’ experience required in the provision of direct services to diverse teen and young adult populations as well as prior experience in youth development.
- Demonstrated knowledge of social-emotional learning, career education as well as secondary and post-secondary access, achievement and completion standards.
- Advanced skill level in Microsoft Word and Excel required, ability to utilize internet, social media and data based platforms to support effective program administration.
- Strong interpersonal and group facilitation skills, ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle several projects and deadlines concurrently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; highly organized self-starter.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that might include some Saturdays and evenings.
- Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrate ability to establish relationships with participants to maintain program goals
- Ability to provide individual case management and referral services as needed
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire.
- The ability to work independently and efficiently.
