General Description

TRiO @Kingsborough Community College has a part time/temporary position for a persistence specialist. The job will run through mid-summer. The pay is $15.00 per hour for 13 or more hours per week. TRiO is a federally funded grant program that promotes retention and graduation for students with disabilities, low income, and first generation. The persistence specialist will perform functions to meet these objectives as a member of the TRiO professional team.

Among other functions, the persistence specialist will

  • link students to academic and technology initiatives
  • address obstacles to resource utilization
  • outreach to students for scholarship and other opportunities
  • conduct educational workshops

Qualifications

A degree in human services is required, a baccalaureate degree in human services is preferred, but consideration will be given to candidates with an associate degree. High consideration will be granted to candidates with experience in post-secondary or high school settings and/or working with people with disabilities.
