General Description
The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded a Health Profession Opportunity Grant (HPOG) to the Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development at Hostos Community College to enroll and train low-income individuals and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipients.
The Allied Health Career Pipeline Program seeks a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Skills Validation Coach to reinforce clinical skills that students learned in their Hostos Community College CNA training. Students will learn the clinical skills from the Nurse Aide instructor. The role of the CNA Skills Validation Coach is to ensure students have properly demonstrated the skills, and work with them to prepare students to pass the New York State Nurse Aid Exam. Please note: The CNA Skills Validation Coach is not a Registered Nurse and will not teach the CNA skills or didactic sections of the training.
Other Duties
The responsibilities of the Skills Validation Coach is to:
- Reinforce clinical skills which have been taught by the Nurse Aide Instructor
- Observe clinical demonstrations in Classroom environment
- Be present in classroom while CNA skills are taught by the instructor
- Work with small groups as directed by CNA Instructor to validate accuracy and completion of the skills
- Students will demonstrate skills to the Skills Validation Coach, who will validate that students are prepared for the skills to be approved by RN instructor
- Prepare and organize the training rooms, including checking inventory
- Document student’s performance including, progress, skills and attendance
- Communicate with the team with all aspects of work
- Assist with organization of students’ schedule
- Meet weekly/daily with instructors and case managers regarding student performance
- Work remotely and onsite work
- Achieve weekly and monthly student completion goals
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or HSE/GED, required
- Currently registered in New York as a CNA, required
- Possess a minimum of two years long term care experience, required
- Hostos Community College CNA graduate, preferred
