General Description

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded a Health Profession Opportunity Grant (HPOG) to the Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development at Hostos Community College to enroll and train low-income individuals and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipients. The HPOG Allied Health Career Pipeline Program is seeking an Intake Outreach Specialist to assist the Program Director in reaching out to the community in order to identify potential participants as well as assist the Intake Coordinator with assessing and enrolling prospective participants into the program.

Other Duties

  • Assist the Outreach Recruitment Coordinator execute the outreach and recruitment activities for allied health courses
  • Create and manage intensive social media and internet marketing for program
  • Conduct program presentations at various events at minimum twice a week
  • Manage the social media sites
  • Prescreen student candidates for eligibility and program participation readiness
  • Ensure that students meet the eligibility requirements
  • Maintain student files and documentation
  • Respond to any questions regarding the program
  • Follow-up with referrals and other student-related matters
  • With the Intake Coordinator, administer the assessment tests
  • Perform other intake tasks: filing, recording messages, verifying and monitoring student enrollment status
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Flexible weekly evenings required and occasional weekends (one evening per week required)

Qualifications

Core Competencies:

  • Ability to communicate effectively; ability to listen and respond to the concerns/ideas of others;
  • Ability to work under deadlines, with changing priorities;
  • Ability to write clearly and produce/edit accurate, well-organized, and understandable reports;
  • Ability to use computer or other systems to accurately log and monitor inventories, to securely store equipment, and to comply with other security protocols;
  • Ability to work in a team, as well as work independently.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or HSE with relevant experience required
  • Associate’s Degree preferred
  • At minimum one (1) year of social media and/or digital design & marketing experience is required
  • Knowledgeable about social media platforms and tools
  • Experience in educational settings and/or with diverse populations in low-income neighborhoods
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comfortable in public speaking settings and making presentations
  • Ability to travel within the boroughs and Westchester (automobile not required)
  • Ability to represent the department positively through a strong, student-centered ethic
  • Well-organized
  • Team-player with creative problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
