General Description

Hunter ultrafast optical spectroscopy and material fabrication group has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct fundamental research focusing on dielectric and ferroelectric surfaces/interfaces of relevance to energy storage materials. As part of an ongoing program that integrates advanced techniques in surface physics with inorganic, analytical, and physical chemistries the successful candidate will contribute to the development of new capabilities in ultrafast optical spectroscopies, including all aspects of data acquisition, interpretation, and presentation, both at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed literature.

Position Requirements

We are seeking a candidate with considerable experience with ultrafast optical spectroscopy techniques, such as second harmonic generation (SHG) spectroscopy and time-resolved pump probe optical spectroscopy. Considerable practical expertise of surface-sensitive measurements, including electrical field induced SHG, two color pump probe techniques. Knowledge of high-resolution SEM/TEM and polar XRD spectroscopy would be a plus. Skill in both written, oral communication, and working interactively and productively in a multidisciplinary environment. Ability to work independently on a day-to-day basis. Ph.D. degree level with 0 to 3 years of experience or equivalent.

Other Duties

Occasional supervision of graduate and undergraduate researchers. Routine equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

Experience in ultrafast non-linear optical spectroscopy applied to solids.
