Job Description

General Description

Lab Technician Position Available: The Likhtik Lab is seeking a Lab Technician to study cellular and molecular changes in the brain during learning, and to help run the daily operations of the lab. We are a growing, dynamic, and supportive team at Hunter College (City University of New York) studying neural and glial functions that define cross-regional communication patterns during learning and memory.  We use animal models to probe changes that occur as a function of stress and anxiety, including altered communication patterns, changes in cellular activity, and molecular expression. Our techniques span in-vivo electrophysiology during behavior, circuit manipulation techniques (e.g. optogenetics, pharmacology), neuroanatomical tracing, molecular analysis (e.g. qPCR, RNA Scope), immunohistochemistry, image analysis, and other tools to further our understanding of neural computations associated with learning.  We are interdisciplinary, collaborative and interested in translational neuroscience. The lab is located at Hunter College in the heart of New York City, a senior college at the largest public urban university in the US. Hunter is a culturally diverse school that prides itself on contributing to academic excellence and social mobility.

There are many opportunities to contribute to the intellectual environment, to attend seminars, and to present at national meetings.
