The Harding lab at Hunter College has an opening for a postdoctoral associate.  We are seeking a highly motivated, independent, skilled synthetic/medicinal chemist to join our team.  Our core research involves optimizing ligands for CNS receptors and as potential drug abuse experimental drugs.  The postdoctoral associate will be involved in the design, synthesis, purification and chemical and biological characterization of CNS receptor ligands.  The candidate is expected to have very strong work ethic with practical synthetic chemistry and reaction trouble-shooting skills.  The postdoc will play a primary role in analogue route design to multiple chemical scaffolds.  Candidates should submit a cover letter, CV and names, email addresses and phone numbers of 3 references. 

Other Duties

The candidate will be expected to supervise graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory and to assist in the preparation of written reports and manuscripts.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a PhD in Organic Synthesis or Medicinal Chemistry with a minimum of 2 first-author publications.  Expertise in multi-step synthetic planning, chromatography and spectroscopic elucidation (1D and 2D NMR, Mass Spectrometry, IR etc) are absolutely required for this position.  Hands-on experience in HPLC is desirable.  Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required.
