Post-doctoral Fellow Position in Translational Cancer Biology
A post-doctoral fellow is sought to participate in a translational cancer biology project in a translational cancer biology laboratory at Hunter College. One area of focus will involve elucidating the role of the PVT1 non-protein coding gene in prostate cancer. The selected candidate will work in the Department of Biological Sciences at Hunter College. The project will build on our recently published work (Int. J. Environ. Res. Public Health 2016, 13(1), 12; Transl Oncol. 2016;9(3):236-41; Exp Cell Res. 2016;348(2):190-200; and RNA Dis. 2017;4(1)).
We seek a highly motivated candidate with a PhD. The candidate must have demonstrated ability to carry out research using cultured cancer cells, and laboratory mice. Expertise in gene cloning techniques is essential, as well as willingness to work with mice. Practical experience in a variety of commonly used cell and molecular biology techniques is expected.
Other Duties
The postdoc will also have the opportunity to develop new, complementary projects on mechanisms of prostate carcinogenesis, and to write manuscripts and grant proposals.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
• PhD in Biology, Biochemistry or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in Cell and Molecular Biology.
The position requires an organized, creative and motivated individual who is enthusiastic about working in Cancer Biology.
The postdoc should be keenly interested in further developing scientific writing and verbal communication skills.
