Laboratory Technician / Manager in a Translational Cancer Biology Laboratory
A laboratory technician or manager is sought to work in a translational cancer biology laboratory at Hunter College. The selected candidate will work to provide organizational, administrative, and technical support to multiple projects, all focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms of cancer progression.
We seek a highly motivated candidate with at least a BA/BS in a life science. The candidate must have demonstrated ability to provide organizational, administrative, and technical support to multiple cancer molecular biology projects.
Under the administrative supervision of the Principal Investigator, the candidate exercises substantial independent professional judgment in overseeing technical and laboratory matters of varying complexity. The individual will procure equipment appropriate to the project, within budget and within all RF guidelines; investigates state-of-the-art upgrades or replacements and proposes appropriate fabrications, repairs and replacements. The person hired will supervise students in the daily technical set-up of laboratory equipment or of other equipment used in the laboratory. The laboratory technician / manager manages the technical budget within delegated authority and reports routinely to the Principal Investigator on all budget issues.
Other Duties
The laboratory manager will also have the opportunity to develop new organizational, administrative, and technical skills related to translational cancer biology.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
• BA/BS in Biology, Biochemistry or related field.
• Experience in Cell and Molecular Biology.
The position requires an organized, and motivated individual who is enthusiastic about working in Cancer Biology.
The lab technician/manager should be interested in developing scientific writing and verbal communication skills.
