General Description
Research Associate to provide technical support for ongoing projects and should be able to initiate research and development of innovative technologies in order to treat municipal wastewaters, and handle /stabilize the combined residual sludge being produced. Specifically, the treatment processes of interest are in the areas of: Biological Nitrogen Removal (BNR) as applied to the main plant flow and to separate centrate treatment, nutrient recovery, optimization of aeration of wastewater to achieve maximum oxygen transfer rates using minimal energy consumption, disinfection of treated wastewater, struvite control and/or prevention, anaerobic sludge treatment and energy recovery, optimization of sludge dewatering etc.
Other Duties
Lead other researchers to carry out experiments in the laboratory and in the field.
Data analysis and plotting
Preparation of power point slides for meetings and carrying out presentations
Preparing manuscripts for publication
Qualifications
Water/waste water chemistry and laboratory analytical skills a must
Knowledge of biological systems
Good verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in computer skills, Mathlab, Sigma plot etc.
