General Description
A research technician position is available at a Cellular and Molecular Biology laboratory at The City College of New York, a senior college of The City University of New York. The laboratory research focuses on molecular pathways and mechanisms regulating mammalian hematopoietic (blood cell) development in normal and oncogenic situations. The work requires manipulation of mouse and human cells and animals (mice) as well as use of standard molecular biology techniques. Practical laboratory experience in standard molecular biology techniques such as recombinant DNA technology, PCR, gel electrophoresis Western blotting and basic cell culture is required and knowledge of more advanced methodologies suh as flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and mouse husbandry (including genotyping, tissue harvesting etc.) are strongly preferred. The candidate may initially work under the supervision of the PI or senior personnel and is then expected to transition to working independently on laboratory projects. The position also entails limited laboratory maintenance responsibilities. He/she is expected to maintain a project notebook and will have opportunities to contribute as an author on scientific publications.

A B.S. with a major in Biology, Biochemistry or a related field is required and an M.S is preferred. Additional relevant laboratory experience of ~2 years is required.
