General Description
The CUNY Initiative to Promote Academic Success in STEM (CiPASS) funded by the US Department of Education seeks a Director of Industrial Collaborations and Maker Space at the City College of New York of the City University of New York.
Main Duties:
The Director of Industrial Collaborations and Maker Space is expected to:
- Lead industry outreach towards building a sustainable industrial consortium;
- Interact with faculty and students;
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the Maker Space including scheduling of facilities, supervision of staff, users, and maintenance and upgrades of facilities;
- Organize professional development activities for faculty and students.
Other Duties
The Director of Industrial Collaborations and Maker Space Maker is also expected to collaborate in the preparation of proposals, interface with donors and funding agencies, and oversee timely execution of projects.
Qualifications
Core Competencies/Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Sciences, Engineering, or computer science from an accredited college or university;
- At least Two (2) years of industry experience;
- Prior experience in organizing and managing technical projects;
- Prior experience in working in a collaborative environment and supervising technical staff;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Proficient with MS Office, additional programming languages preferred.
About the Programs:
The CiPASS program is focused on increasing the number of degrees in STEM areas at the City College of New York by: improving retention, increasing transfer of students, and infusing experiential learning in the classroom, particularly with Hispanic students. These initiatives encompass collaboration across campus with Schools and Divisions, Departments, Academic Programs, Research Centers and Institutes.
