General Description

A part-time laboratory technician is sought to help manage and oversee equipment in a materials science lab. The location is the Center for Discovery and Innovation at the City College of New York (85 Saint Nicholas Terrace at the main City College campus). The candidate might be a science student (eligible for part-time employment) looking to provide themselves with additional support. Training would be provided. The lab houses chemicals and chemistry related equipment, electronic and electrical characterization equipment and gloveboxes. Regular checking of the equipment is necessary, along with keeping the lab well maintained, and ensuring chemical and environmental safety. Tasks include receiving packages, exchanging of gas cylinders, helping fix equipment, speaking with vendors, and coordinating deliveries with vendors.

Experience/training in a chemistry, medical or engineering lab preferred.
