General Description
The position is for a Research Associate to provide technical support for ongoing projects with primary responsibility to continue research and development projects of innovative technologies to treat municipal wastewaters including treatment and stabilization of the combined bio-solids generated at the Water Resource Recovery Facilities. More specifically, the treatment processes of interest are in the areas of: biological nitrogen removal as applicable to the main plant and separate centrate treatment, nutrient/energy recovery, optimization of the aeration process in wastewater to achieve maximum oxygen transfer rate capabilities with minimum energy consumption, disinfection of treated wastewater, struvite control and/or prevention, anaerobic sludge treatment and energy recovery, and optimization of the bio-solids stream.
Other Duties
The candidate should have a Masters in environmental engineering, and have atleast 2 years of experiences in the design and operation of municipal wastewater treatment plants. He/She should be able to function within an academic environment where interaction and participation of both graduate and undergraduate students has to be incorporated in all of the research projects.
Qualifications
M.S in Environmental Engineering.
Should be able to lead a group of researchers working in lab/field setting.
Conduct experiments either individually or in a group setting.
Well versed with computational methods and data reduction/analytics.
Proficient in Math lab and other similar software.
Process modeling for wastewater treatment plants.
Good command of English - writing and speaking and report writing
