General Description

The Upward Bound Program at Borough of Manhattan Community College is seeking an afterschool Science Workshop Leader to conduct virtual and face to face sessions on a variety of science related subjects to ensure student success throughout the academic year.

The Science Workshop Leader will provide workshops with Upward Bound participants in small groups settings using online platforms for virtual and face to face, to improve participants knowledge on various topics related to Living Environment, Earth Science and Chemistry on principal key ideas, including scientific concepts, principals and theories and provide academic mentorship.

Other Duties

Candidates must be highly motivated, patient, and energetic.

Conduct weekly group review sessions with high school students to prepare them for NYS Science Regents

Conduct test prep procedures that align with NYS Regents protocols, including time management, study skills, incorporating discussion questions for STEM analysis and critical thinking.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a BA, Masters (preferably) with knowledge or familiarity of NYS Regents or teaching, tutoring experience.

Be familiar with various science related computer applications to enhance virtual learning environments.

This is a grant funded program, part-time opportunity available during the academic year, Fall and Spring semesters.
