Baruch STEP Academy ( https://step.baruch.cuny.edu ) is an academic enrichment program focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and providing college preparation.
The course will operate over 10 sessions on Saturdays from October 1st through December 10th from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m.
Living Environment Instructor (In-Person Position)
Course Description
This 90 minute course will prepare students for the June 2023 Living Environment Regents exam.

Summary of Responsibilities
The STEP Academy at Baruch College is seeking to fill an IN-PERSON living environment instructor position for the high school program. The instructor will be responsible for introducing and reviewing these topics in depth from the first half of the regents curriculum: scientific inquiry, biochemistry, cells and cellular processes, and biological systems.
The goal of the course is to help students:
1. prep for the June 2023 Regents exam
2. assist with understanding homework assignments

· Plan, teach and prepare materials for about 20 students
· Evaluate student and group performance
· Provide staff with measurable results in student learning through assessments
· Monitor and maintain student attendance records
Qualifications
Qualifications
-Required:
- Availability for each scheduled Saturday in the fall- Instruction: 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
- Major in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) field or a strong background in the subject area
- Ability to engage students in subject material
- Enthusiasm for the subject and possess good interpersonal skills with teenagers
-Preferred:
- Experience with high school students in a tutoring or teaching capacity, especially in Biology
- A strong classroom management style and a demonstrated ability to create an engaging learning environment
