Archisman Chakraborty

Associate Professor

Economics & Finance, Baruch College
Posterior Stable Mechanisms

Professor Archisman Chakraborty studies game theory through a two-year, $130,000 NSF grant, Posterior Stable Mechanisms. Game theory is a language used to describe interactive or social situations such as markets, institutions, or trading. Highly applicable in economics, finance, social science and evolutionary biology, it is particularly successful in two areas of economics and finance: auctions and matching. Specifically, he seeks to understand two-sided matching markets (markets with both an intermediary and a client such as matching employers with employees or firms with underwriters). His fascination with the notion of game theory began as a graduate student and he thoroughly enjoys sharing his knowledge of game theory with undergraduate students. Professor Chakraborty is pleased to be conducting research at CUNY. “Many of my heroes in game theory attended CUNY and I hope to be able to connect some facts that I think are disconnected and understand some facets of human society.”
