About Institutional Advancement Leading the American Dream: The Campaign for Queens College has allowed significant investments to be made in expanding academic programs, capital renovations and developing community services. Institutional Advancement is now adding senior-level staff to ensure readiness to maintain and expand fundraising capacity to support the College's exciting plans for growth. Position will remain open until filled Other Duties: About the Major Gifts Officer The Major Gifts Officer is a newly-created position at Queens College designed to significantly build the major gifts program of individual donors at the $100,000+ level, including developing strategies, analysis, implementation and reporting. The position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Advancement and will be part of a team of professionals who are devoted to securing significant resources to further the mission of Queens College. The Officer will be supported by communications, research and administrative staff. Primary Goals for Year One: 1. Manage a portfolio of 150-200 current donors. 2. Research and Cultivate 25 new donors at the $100,000+ level including bequest prospects. 3. Work with the Assistant VP on developing the Jefferson Society. 4. Increasing the number of personal solicitations and strengthening stewardship efforts. Principal duties and responsibilities: 1. Maintain a portfolio of current and prospective major donors with a focus on $100,000 level gifts. 2. Develop strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major and planned gifts. 3. Manage and increase on-going activities in the major gifts area and an active schedule of donor meetings with the goal of maximizing donor interests and relationships. 4. Work closely with Board members to guide cultivation and steward- ship of major donor relationships. 5. Work in partnership with the President and Vice President for Institutional Advancement to arrange appointment, prepare proposals, etc. 6. Work closely with interdepartmental staff to identify prospects and fundraising opportunities. 7. Ensure that acknowledgements to high-level donors are personal and timely. 8. Serve as a senior member of the fundraising team, participating in developing strategies to achieve department-wide goals. 9. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Advancement.Salary:85,000 - 90,000 Core Competencies/Qualifications: The Major Gifts Officer is a senior-level position and requires the experience, skills, sophistication and presence to dramatically increase gifts from individual major donors. The successful candidate will have: 1. A minimum of three to five years of related experience in a complex organization. 2. A record of success in developing relationships and soliciting major donors. 3. Must be a team-player who is self-directed, energetic and can inspire trustees, volunteers and staff. 4. Must have an organized and strategic approach to fundraising with excellent writing and communication skills. 5. Experience in developing and researching prospects. 6. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines. 7. Bachelor's degree required, master's degree a plus.
